THE HAURAKI GULF Maritime Park Region
The Hauraki Gulf Maritime Park Region as shown over below borders Auckland City to the South and West, Coromandel Peninsula to the East, and Great Barrier to the North. The Hauraki Gulf is therefore very well protected from ocean swells, offering cruising yachts unparalleled sailing opportunities within the 1500 miles/2400 kilometres of the Hauraki Gulf Maritime Park. Encompassing the Hauraki Gulf are 65 islands, many being side aside by New Zealand as reserves with no development allowed to spoil their beautiful natural wilderness.
